On the first day of your tour, there are no scheduled activities, allowing you to unwind and settle in after your arrival. Upon landing at Dubrovnik’s airport, our guide/driver will greet you in the arrivals lounge, holding a signboard with your name. If your arrival is delayed, please notify us promptly. You'll then be chauffeured from the airport to your accommodation in Herceg Novi, situated along the picturesque Montenegrin coastline, where you'll spend the next two nights. Should you arrive early and feel energized, we can arrange optional activities from our list for you to enjoy. Take this opportunity to relax and explore some nearby attractions that pique your interest, adding to the richness of your tour experience.
- Day 2: Herceg Novi & Monastery Savina
Nestled amidst lush Mediterranean vegetation, Herceg Novi boasts an enchanting ambiance, earning it the moniker "The City of the Sun" due to its abundance of sunny days throughout the year. Our exploration begins with a visit to Kanli Kula, also known as the 'bloody tower,' a notorious 16th-century prison from Herceg Novi's Turkish era. Wander through the charming old town, particularly captivating when approached via the pedestrian section of Ulica Njegoševa, adorned with elegant 19th-century buildings. Our stroll culminates at Nikola Ðurković square, where you'll ascend stairs to admire the elegant clock tower dating back to 1667. Next, we venture to the picturesque Savina Monastery, nestled at the entrance of the breathtaking Boka Bay. Explore the monastery's vineyards and learn about winemaking techniques amidst the lavish Mediterranean vegetation. The Obradovic family, stewards of the monastery, will share insights into coastal wine production and offer tastings of their exquisite wines, including the indigenous white varietal, Žižak (zhizhak) - though participation in the wine tasting is optional. Following our excursion, we return to our hotel in the Herceg Novi Riviera, where you'll have free time to unwind, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.
- Day 3: Herceg Novi – Budva & Guided tour of Perast, Kotor and Porto Montenegro
After enjoying breakfast, we'll check out from Herceg Novi and set off for Budva. Our journey will take us through the scenic Bay of Kotor, passing by Perast and Kotor, where we'll embark on a guided tour showcasing the region's opulent architecture and rich history. Following this, we'll take a brief boat ride to visit the enchanting island of “Our Lady of the Rocks,” steeped in six centuries of maritime secrets and local legends. Prepare to be captivated by its history, adorned with paintings covering the walls and ceiling, and mesmerized by the breathtaking panoramic views. Continuing our exploration, we'll ride along the picturesque Kotor Bay towards the town of Kotor. Upon entering the Old Town through the Sea Gate, you'll be greeted by the venerable Clock Tower, signaling the perfect moment to delve into the charming streets and squares of this prosperous town. As you stroll past the palaces of noble families, you'll immerse yourself in the essence of Venetian culture and architecture. Your journey will lead you to the awe-inspiring Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, dedicated to the patron saint of Kotor, showcasing its timeless beauty. Just a stone's throw away lies the Maritime Museum, offering insights into the extensive naval history and traditions of Kotor and the entire Boka Bay. After our visit to Kotor, a brief 20-minute drive will transport us to our next destination, the town of Tivat, home to Porto Montenegro. This prestigious locale seamlessly blends luxurious lifestyle amenities with a world-class marina, creating a haven of sophistication in the Mediterranean. Finally, we'll make our way to Budva and check in for the next two nights. You'll have free time to unwind, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.
- Day 4: Ostrog Monastery, Cetinje & Mausoleum
Opt for an unforgettable journey to Ostrog Monastery, a revered site of Montenegrin spiritualism visited by pilgrims from across the globe. Marvel at the cave-like chapel and monastery complex housing the relics of Saint Basil of Ostrog, steeped in fascinating stories and miraculous tales. Following your visit to Ostrog Monastery, we'll venture to the historic center of Cetinje, home to significant relics of Montenegro's past, including the Petrović Dynasty's legacy at Biljarda, King Nikola’s Palace, and the Monastery of Cetinje. Next, choose between two intriguing options: a visit to Njegoš Mausoleum atop the majestic Lovćen mountain, offering panoramic views and insights into Montenegro's history, or a tour of Lipa Cave, one of the largest caves in Montenegro, showcasing stunning geological formations. Alternatively, explore the royal village of Njeguši, renowned for its prosciutto and cheese specialties, before embarking on a panoramic ride along the picturesque serpentine road to Kotor and Budva. During the journey, enjoy a delightful lunch at the renowned national restaurant “Vidikovac,” offering authentic Montenegrin cuisine. Vegetarian options are available upon request (lunch not included in tour price). Afterward, you'll have free time to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures before retiring for the night.
- Day 5: Journey Budva - Žabljak & Canyons with Rafting Tara River
In the early morning, we depart from the coastal town of Budva and head north to explore Montenegro's rugged mountains and breathtaking canyons. Embark on an exhilarating tour of the Tara and Morača Canyons, highlighted by an unforgettable rafting adventure on the pristine Tara River. Our journey takes us through the awe-inspiring Morača canyon, renowned for its cliff-side bends and tunnels, passing by the 13th-century Morača Monastery. Marvel at the depths of Platije Canyon before reaching the Šljivansko starting point for whitewater rafting. Experience the thrill of rafting through Europe's deepest canyon, the Tara Canyon, often dubbed the "Tear of Europe." Navigate through 10 kilometers of exhilarating rapids, with breaks for photography, swimming, and refreshments, including a visit to Europe's largest water spring and the continent's shortest river, Ljutica spring. After a short break at Ljutica, continue through Trešnjički Bukovi cascades and pass beneath the iconic Đurđevića Tara Bridge. Take a refreshing swim in the emerald waters before concluding the rafting journey at Žugića Luka. Following rafting, opt for an adrenaline-pumping experience on the Extreme Zipline, offering breathtaking views as you soar across the Tara River canyon (Zipline not included in tour price, costs 30 €). Finally, we'll travel approximately 25 minutes to Žabljak, where you'll check in for the next three nights. Enjoy dinner and settle in for a restful overnight stay.
- Day 6: Trekking or Via Ferrata Durmitor (alternatively, mountain biking Durmitor)
After a hearty mountain breakfast, immerse yourself in one of Durmitor mountain's most renowned treks, boasting breathtaking views of canyons, the Tara River, lakes, and towering peaks. Alternatively, take on the challenge of Via Ferrata, one of Europe's highest, offering stunning vistas from its 400-meter length and 230-meter height difference. For those seeking adventure on two wheels, embark on an exhilarating mountain biking or trekking excursion through Durmitor and Sinjajevina plateaus. Traverse ridges, forests, and peaks, taking in the area's stunning landscapes. Durmitor is a popular tourist destination, famed for its 18 glacial lakes, dense forests, and plethora of hiking and biking trails, including over 40 peaks exceeding 2000 meters above sea level. In winter, the slopes transform into a skiing paradise at the Savin Kuk ski center. After a day of exploration, enjoy dinner and unwind with free activities before retiring for the night.
- Day 7: Free activities in NP “Durmitor”
Today is yours to shape as you wish, with no planned activities on the agenda. Consider a visit to the renowned Sedlo pass, offering stunning views and access to challenging hiking trails, including the option to try Via Ferrata Durmitor. Alternatively, explore Savin Kuk, Durmitor's most visited peak, renowned for its accessibility and panoramic views of the picturesque Black Lake, situated at 2316 meters above sea level. Opt for an easy walking tour to discover the beauty of Barno Lake and Zminje Lake, or indulge in one of our other optional activities. After a day of exploration, enjoy dinner and unwind with free time before retiring for the night.
- Day 8: Departure
On the last day, there are no scheduled activities. We'll pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Dubrovnik Airport. We'll drop you off at the airport entrance parking lot at the scheduled time. We hope you've enjoyed the tour and depart with cherished memories. You're always welcome to visit again.
